Preferred text message for no smoking in undergraduate students

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify a preferred text message for no smoking with a mobile phone in undergraduate students smoked.

Methods: A total of 90 undergraduate students in smoking had participated in this study. Fifty students answered which text message was preferred as no smoking text message and the other 40 students answered which text message made them to feel that they had to stop smoking. Data collection was conducted from Nov. to Dec. 2009 using an interview and text message using a mobile phone. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS program.

Results: The most preferred text message for no smoking sent to undergraduate students was ¡°Do you want to kiss someone? When your girlfriend kisses you, she feels like kissing a ash tray¡±.

Conclusion: Sending a text message using a mobile phone would be helpful to discourage smoking for undergraduate students in smoking.
